Eid Mubarak
True celebration of Eid continues the spirit of Ramadan which was focused on prayer, worship, charity, sharing and empathy.

Eid ul Fitr is a Muslim festival and celebration. This year American Muslims are celebrating Eid ul Fitr on June 5. This day marks the end of Ramadan which is a month of fasting and Eid Day is considered to be its reward from God. Muslims learn from the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that one should dress up in new or clean clothes on Eid Day. However, the true celebration of Eid continues the spirit of Ramadan which was focused on prayer, worship, charity, sharing and empathy.
A typical Eid Day starts with morning Prayer before sunrise as usual. But later on, another special congregational Prayer is offered a few hours after sunrise. Men, women and children gather in the mosque and listen to the sermon highlighting the spirit of Eid and their take away from Ramadan.
Muslims are expected to spend the Eid Day with family, friends, neighbors and the needy by sharing gifts, meals and happy moments. There is a special charity before Eid obligatory on all Muslims which is to be paid by the head of the family and is called Fitrana. Purpose of this donation is to make sure that less fortunate ones may also be able to join in the Eid celebrations. Muslims greet each other with “Eid Mubarak” on the Eid Day which means may this day be a blessed one for you.
Eid Mubarak to all celebrating and best wishes for everyone reading.
