There has always been regular communication between Senator Colgan
and the City of Manassas and he is a great friend of our community.
Manassas has long been on record as supporting improvements to #28 and
and the building of a Tri-County-Parkway that would parallel #28 as
it bypassed Old Town, Manassas Park and the Yorkshire area of PWC.
This article is the first I've learned of proposed lane reversals on #28.
I question if they would work due to the middle lane often serving as a turn lane,
but am willing to look at any VDOT proposals to improve traffic flow.

I agree! There are way too many Traffic lights or they are timed wrong. The engineers really screwed up with that design, you've got a bottle neck from people coming out of Manassas and from woodbridge, dumfries, towards Fairfax, Dulles, and to Mclean etc... Manassas is the central hub for everyone heading in from the south side of manasas to the north. You end up with a jam all the way up route 28 into fairfax and straight up to 28 north and to 66 east... There needs at be a 28 bypass or something, because BARRING any Police activity or accidents, 28 is a horrible commute from about 6:00 am on. On a good day it eases slightly around 10:00 am but never completely. We're talking buring gas by the gallons creeping along and sitting at traffic lights. What should be a 15 minute commute turns to at the least 1 to 2 hours on a clear dry day... Why are we still driving on what could be considered "horse trails" with 500 cars every 20 minutes passing over rt. 28! What if there was an emergency like a major earthquake or a bio-hazard terrorist attack or something that needed evacuations of a large amount of people? No medical could travel anywhere, law enforcement, military, or fire rescue... There has to be a better plan than this...

"Route 28 Bypass - Tri-County Parkway
The City of Manassas is supportive of the design of this project which has
received significant support from various NVTA jurisdictions. The project is essential to alleviate existing congestion on existing Route 28 from the
City of Manassas to Centreville. The project was outlined in the Transaction
2030 plan and is being updated in the Virginia Transaction 2040 plan."
(Part of #R -2012-15 passed by the Manassas City Council 10-10-2011
for delivery to the Commonweath Transportation Board and the Va.
Sec. of Transportation at their 10-25-2011 hearing on the FY13-18 SYIP
for highway, rail and public transportation initatives).

I don't beleive the state can legally provide a tax incentive for an employers to hire a resident of one state locality over another. Furthermore I don't beleive an employer can discriminate in hiring practices based on a canidates residence.
I see on Mr. Gordy claims he is a small business owner, but it seems his "small business" is a luxury cabin he rents out. How many jobs has he created? How many employee's does he have? Buying a vacation home and renting it out doesnt seem to qualify as a small business. I dont see that this business name is listed on the SCC website as a busines?

Calm down Mike. First, thank the man for his service to our country. Secondly, i before e, except after c (beleive). I didn't see where Mr. Gordy made a comment about hiring a resident of one state locality over another, as you've alleged. He merely mentioned "hiring unemployed workers". As an obvious supporter of the Democratic (workers) Party, I can't think you'd have a problem with that! I'm sure Mr. Gordy would agree that employers can't discriminate in hiring practices based on a candidate's residence. The word "locals" found in the title appears to have come from the editorial staff. You went on to say that Mr Gordy "claims he is a small business owner" but you complained about the "luxury cabin" he rents out. Mike...that IS a small business. I guess, based on your "logic", the watermen of Tangier Island, many of whom are only a one boat operation, shouldn't be considered legitimate small businesses either if they only have one boat!? Look, if he can maintain a budget and understand a balance sheet, he's ahead of most of our Congressional leaders.
Mike, haven't you had enough of career politicians yet? I've supported Colgan in the past but I'm tired of his pandering to illegal alien special interests. He's been there too long. Driver's licenses for illegals and all the access that goes with a drivers' license? Do you really think that's a good idea? We need a fresh, new perspective in Richmond and Mr. Gordy sounds like he has that perspective. He also has my vote.

Move over, Corey. We couldn't ask for a better indication of your loyalties that what you've shown us this time around. You're in it for yourself first and PWC second.
Harley Morenstein

Corey Stewart has been a loyal and fair minded leader for Prince William County. He listens and is accessible to all. I know that he has personally returned my phone calls, which is more than I can say for the old days in the county. Here in Occoquan, we know Corey is looking out for us, and his work continues to prove that he is more than just talk. Moreover, since when is it wrong for a person, even it they are in politics, to show ambition? We do not expect people in other lines of work to never consider the next professional steps they may take. Why should we hold our political leaders to a different standard? Corey has shown by more than just words, but by his actions, how much he cares for this county and it's residents. I know that under his leadership, and the Board of Supervisor's leadership, the county is safer, economically more stable, and moving in the right direction. My surprise is not that Corey is thinking about higher office, but that no one has recruited him to run yet. Let's hope he does stay with us for another full term and continues to provide the leadership that has made him such an attractive candidate and successful leader in Prince William County.
