Fire Destroys Garage at Nokesville Home
Family dog alerted residents to 2 a.m. blaze, says Prince William fire department.

An early morning fire Monday destroyed the detached garage of a residence in Nokesville, causing $150,000 in damage, according to the Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue (DFR).
The county Fire Marshal’s Office is investigeting the cause of the blaze, which broke out at about 2 a.m. at a property in the 14000 block of Fitzwater Drive, according to a DFR statement.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to a nearby house and adjacent buildings, the fire department said.
The family in the house was alerted to the fire by their dog, who woke them up to go outside, according to the statement. As the owner approached the door, he saw the garage engulfed in flames and immediately called 911.
According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, the contents of the garage, which housed numerous items including equipment and a vehicle, were a total loss.
