Gainesville Armed Robbery, Shooting Suspect Sought By Police

The Prince William County Police Department is looking for a suspect after an armed robbery and shooting in Gainesville on Wednesday.

MANASSAS, VA — A suspect is on the loose after a shooting and armed robbery in Gainesville on Wednesday afternoon. An unidentified man fired multiple rounds into a vehicle before assaulting the driver, according to police reports.

On Wednesday afternoon, a 33-year-old man told police he was flagged down by another driver in a gold Honda sedan. When the man stopped, a passenger in the other car pulled out a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the victim's vehicle, police said.

The passenger then pulled the 33-year-old victim from his vehicle and demanded property, authorities said. The passenger struck the man, who momentarily lost consciousness.

The passenger then took the victim's property, got back into the sedan and fled.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to a hospital. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The passenger who assaulted the man is described as a Black male, about 6 feet tall and 220 pounds. He had shoulder-length dreadlocks, police said.

The Prince William County Police Department is looking for a gold Honda sedan with a broken driver's side mirror.
