Gang Activity Suspected in Wednesday Shooting in Manassas: Police
Four men and one juvenile were arrested in the incident near Stonewall Jackson High School, according to Prince William County Police.
MANASSAS, VA — Two suspected gang members who shot one juvenile and injured another Wednesday afternoon in the area of Rixlew Lane and Ashton Avenue were arrested a few hours later in the 7900 block of Community Drive, according to Prince William County Police.
Also arrested were two accomplices in a getaway car.
- Jonathan Joseph Aviles, 20, of the 7900 block of Community Drive, was charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding, one count of malicious wounding, two counts of gang participation and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
- Steven Joseph Roldan, 18, of the 8600 block of Burton Parrish Court, was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit malicious wounding and one count of conspiracy to commit gang participation.
- Diego Martinez, 18, of the 9300 block of Hidden Spring Drive, was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit malicious wounding and one count of conspiracy to commit gang participation.
- A 17-year-old male juvenile was charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding, one count of malicious wounding and two counts of gang participation.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., police arrived at the scene and found a two males, 17 and 16, the latter of whom had been shot in the upper body and the other struck with a handgun. They said they had been walking along a wooden path when they were approached by Aviles and the juvenile, and then attacked.

The suspects fled in a waiting vehicle.
Police say the suspects are connected to the "South Side" street gang, and that the attack was not random.

The shooting led to several nearby area schools, including Stonewall Jackson, to briefly be locked down until more information was found.
