Green Card Fraud Guilty Plea From Manassas Resident

Illegal immigrant from Guatemala had would obtain counterfeit green cards and Social Security cards.

An illegal immigrant residing in Manassas was involved in the production and distribution of at least 50 fraudulent Social Security and Green cards, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Eastern Virginia.

Mauricio Florian-Polanco, 39, pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to commit immigration document fraud. He faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison when sentenced Dec. 12.

Florian-Polanco admitted to conspiring with others to falsely make Social Security cards and Green Cards, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office release. He would meet with individuals looking to obtain counterfeit documents and then share their biographic information with a co-conspirator who would create the fraudulent cards.

Florian-Polanco was arrested after meeting with undercover government agents. The case was investigated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the City of Manassas Police Department, with assistance from the Northern Virginia Gang Task Force.
