Gunshot, Drugs, Prompt Gas Station Owner's Arrest In Haymarket: Police

The owner of a Liberty gas station is being held without bond after trying to intimidate two by firing a gun into the air in Woodbridge.

HAYMARKET, VA — The owner of a Liberty gas station is being held without bond after trying to intimidate two customers Thursday night by firing a gun into the air at 3511 James Madison Highway, according to Prince William County Police. Amar Ali Awad, 52, of the 4500 block of Lawnvale Drive in Gainesville, was charged with reckless handling of a firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance and possession of a scheduled I or II narcotic.

Shortly after 11 p.m., police arrived at the scene for a reported shooting. A man, 55, and a woman, 53, of Berrymill, said they went to the station to get stuff from their vehicle that they had requested be towed to the station a couple of days earlier. Then Awad arrived in his vehicle and began arguing with them. He fired the shot. They fled and called the cops. Police arrived, found Awad and also found drugs in plain view inside his ride. He was arrested without incident.
