HGBA Names 2018 Business Person of the Year

The Haymarket Gainesville Business Association (HGBA) in Virginia awarded Jason Shriner of Manassas Park Community Center, Department of Parks and Recreation in Manassas Park, Va. with the 2018 Business Person of Year award. This is the second year HGBA has awarded a member with the Business Person of the Year award. Business Person of the Year is given to an HGBA member who has achieved both business success and contributed to the local community. Mark Yingling of MP Copiers in Manassas Park, Va., and Michelle Dewitt of The Farm Brewery of Broad Run in Broad Run, Va. were also nominated. For more information on HGBA, go to www.hgba.biz.

Shriner’s was instrumental in helping the Manassas Park Department of Parks and Recreation as its marketing manager, and earned the Prince William Chamber of Commerce's Innovative Practice/Partnership of the Year award in 2017 and assisted in re-organizing his marketing department.

Shriner is also committed to his community, as an advocate of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community) where he has been a youth facilitator since 2013. He also facilitates monthly LGBTQ youth socials at the Manassas Park Community Center. He also participates in the Suicide Prevention Alliance of Northern Virginia (SPAN) LGBT Committee helping to provide access to suicide prevention resources.

He is active in the Prince William Chamber of Commerce of Manassas, Va. as co-chair for the Youth Professionals of Northern Virginia (YPNOVA) committee, and also steers the marketing committee for Court-appointed Special Advocates (CASA). He’s also on the HGBA marketing committee and was a panelist for HGBA's event on social media for business.
