PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Prince William County's fire marshal's office is investigating the illegal dumping of waste products in large containers in Bristow.

The fire department had received resident complaints about the illegally dumped 55-gallon drums on Reid Lane in Bristow. The Hazardous Materials Team and Fire Marshal’s Office found multiple 55-gallon drums containing a waste product, which created an environmental hazard.

The drums were secured to ensure there would be no environmental impacts. Because the drums were illegally dumped on state-run property, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the Virginia Department of Transportation were responsible for removing the containers.
