Local Vets Still Living By Soldier's Creed

Local veteran-owned business donates office equipment to local Manassas VFW Post.

The third line of the U.S. Soldier's Creed states: “I am a Warrior and a member of a team.”

Local veterans Ron Link (Army) and Mark Yingling (Marine Corps) still work for the team by helping other veterans.

Link serves as Post Commander at Francis Cannon VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 7589 in Manassas. Yingling is president of Manassas Park-based MP Copiers, which supports Toys for Tots, American Legion and other non-profits.

On Feb. 8, MP Copiers donated a copier to Post 7589, keeping the team ethos in high regard.

“It certainly is an asset to the post,” Link said, adding that “We don't have to run out somewhere else” to make copies.

“It's important to support the people who support the country,” Yingling said.

MP Copiers advertises itself as a “Veteran-owned small business,” a line Yingling says is important to him.

“I'm a veteran, I like to do business with other veteran-owned businesses,” Yingling said.

VFW Post 7589 was founded in 1946 and named for Francis Cannon. Cannon was the first soldier from Prince William/Manassas killed in World War II.

In the economic downturn, Link said he has seen an increase in requests for help at the post.

“The cutbacks in government make it difficult for vets to survive,” Link said. “We've seen a big increase in financial requests.”

Link also said that the donation “shows that a veteran understands what we need.”
