Man Assaults Woman During Abduction In Gainesville: Police

A man was arrested Wednesday night after abducting a girl from Heritage Village Plaza and then assaulting her: Prince William County Police.

GAINESVILLE, VA—A man was arrested Wednesday night after abducting a girl from Heritage Village Plaza and then assaulting her, according to Prince William Police. Anthony Oakes, 20, of the 7300 block of Yountville Drive in Gainesville, was charged with abduction and assault and battery. He was held without bond.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the girl, 17, said she met Oakes, an acquaintance, at her workplace in the plaza and got into his vehicle. He then accelerated and drove off, refusing her repeated demands to be let out of the vehicle.

At one point, Oakes repeatedly hit her in the face. He eventually let her out of the vehicle, and she immediately contacted police. Minor injuries were reported. Oakes was later found in the area of Balls Ford Road and Ashton Avenue, and was arrested without incident.
