Man Broke Into Manassas Home, Threatened Resident With Box Cutter, Evaded Cops: Police

Authorities are looking for a man who broke into a home and threatened someone with a box cutter before fleeing from police officers.

MANASSAS, VA — Police in Manassas are looking for a man accused of breaking into a home and using a box cutter to threaten a resident. Authorities spoke to the suspect after the break-in on Wednesday, but he escaped police officers.

The Manassas City Police Department identified the suspect as 23-year-old Nicolas Hernandez Rubio. He is charged with breaking and entering while armed with a deadly weapon. Authorities said he could face other felony charges.

Police said he is a white Hispanic man with black hair. He is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at a home in the 9700 block of Bragg Lane. Authorities said the suspect, who police identified as Hernandez Rubio, entered the home and ran into a resident. Hernandez Rubio then threatened the resident with a box cutter, the police department said.

Police officers found the suspect and attempted to de-escalation techniques. They were unsuccessful and the suspect ran away.
