Manassas Man Dies In Crash Involving School Bus

The school bus driver suffered minor injuries in the Fauquier County crash. There were no children on the bus.

FAUQUIER COUNTY, VA — A two-vehicle crash in Fauquier County on Jan. 7 killed one man and injured three others, according to the Virginia State Police. The crash occurred around noon on Tuesday on Route 55 (John Marshall Highway), just east of Route 729 (Carrington Road) , near the town of Delaplane. Slick road conditions were factors in the cause of crash, the police said.

A 2001 GMC Savana, a large van, was traveling east on Rt. 55 when the driver lost control, crossed a double solid yellow centerline, and collided with a westbound Fauquier County school bus. The driver of the GMC, Charles E. Anderson, 71, of Manassas, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital. Anderson was wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger in the GMC, Mark R. Tee, 48, of Manassas, died at the scene as a result of his injuries in the crash. Tee was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the police.

The driver of the school bus, a 59-year-old woman from Warrenton, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Fauquier Hospital. The bus driver was wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger on the school bus, a 68-year-old woman, also suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Fauquier Hospital. There were no children on the school bus at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, the state police said.
