Man Wins $1 Million in Virginia Lottery While Pumping Gas in Manassas

Bristow couple: While he was filling the vehicle, his wife went inside and bought a winning New Year's Millionaire Raffle ticket for him.

BRISTOW, VA — Here's something that gives a whole new meaning to the well-worn utterance, "Best thing I ever did in my life was marrying my wife."

Do tell, for Glenn Spilman's wife, Pam, purchased a Virginia Lottery ticket for him Jan. 1 that wound up making the Bristow couple $1 million richer than they were when Glenn was pumping gas at a 7-Eleven at 6865 Wellington Road in Manassas while Pam was inside buying, among other things, a ticket for the New Year's Millionaire Raffle.

The Spilmans received their check Thursday, and the 7-Eleven received a $10,000 bonus.

It was more good fortune for area residents. Over the Christmas holidays, an Ashburn woman won $200,000 from a stocking stuffer scratch-off ticket.

The two other $1 million tickets were bought in Richmond and Lynchburg.

Six tickets won $25,000 each, and they were ought in Charlottesville, Culpeper, Dumfries, Richmond, Rustburg and Yorktown. An additional 300 tickets each fetched $500.
