Manassas City Schools Make Weather Decision For Dec. 16

There has been a change to Monday's schedule based on weather, according to Manassas City public schools.

MANASSAS, VA — Public schools in the city of Manassas will be opening two hours late on Monday, Dec. 16 due to possible icy conditions in the early morning hours. Officials made the announcement Monday morning.

Manassas City Schools said they will continue to monitor the conditions and make an additional announcement regarding the status of school if necessary.

  • Elementary, intermediate, middle and high school students arrive two hours late.
  • Morning buses will be two hours late. Students will use regular bus stops unless noted otherwise.
  • Field trips may be canceled pending weather conditions.
  • Athletic trips may be approved by Superintendent/designee and Director of Transportationon a case-by-case basis pending assessment of road conditions and weather predictions.
  • Lunch will be served at all schools.
  • The AlphaBest before school program will open at 8:30 a.m. for all elementary schools.

The National Weather Service forecasts rain and sleet becoming all rain after 10 a.m. in Manassas. Total daytime sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
