Manassas Mall Bomb Threat Sent By 12-Year-Old: Police

A threat that prompted evacuation of Manassas Mall will result in a juvenile diversion action for the 12-year-old suspect.

MANASSAS, VA — A 12-year-old was identified as the source of a bomb threat to Manassas Mall on May 22.

Police say threats of violence against the mall at 8300 Sudley Rd. appeared on Instagram on May 22. The mall was evacuated as a precaution while police searched the grounds and found no explosive devices.

Detectives identified the suspect as a 12-year-old girl and found the threat was not credible. After consulting with the Prince William County Juvenile Court Services, the case is being handled through the juvenile diversion process. There were no formal charges placed against the 12-year-old.
