Manassas Man Charged With Sexual Assault Of Child: Police
A 40-year-old man from Manassas was accused of sexually assaulting a child multiple times from 2016 to 2020, according to police.

MANASSAS, VA — A Manassas man was arrested on Wednesday after he was accused of sexually assaulting a child, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Police identified the man as Juan Pofirio Bonilla Matute, a 40-year-old Manassas resident.
On Wednesday, the Prince William County Police Department's Special Victims Unit concluded their investigation into a series of sexual assaults that were reported to have occurred in Manassas between August 2016 and August 2020.
Authorities identified the victim as a girl who was between 8 and 11 years old at the time of the offenses. Investigators claimed the girl was assaulted on more than one occasion by Bonilla Matute, who they identified as an acquaintance.

The police department said that multiple sexual assaults occurred at a home in Manassas. The incidents were only recently reported to authorities, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department.

After the completion of the Special Victims Unit's investigation, officers arrested Bonilla Matute without further incident. He is charged with one count of attempted rape, one count of object sexual penetration, and two counts of aggravated sexual battery.
Currently, Bonilla Matute is being held without bond at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center. His court date is listed as "pending," the police department said.
If found guilty, Bonilla Matute could face up to life in prison, according to Virginia sentencing guidelines.
