Manassas Man Dies in Accident Near Richmond

Virginia State Police: Weather, speed were factors in single-vehicle crash along I-295.

A Manassas man died Thursday when the van he was driving ran off Interstate 295 in the Richmond area and struck a tree, according to the Virginia State Police.

Juan W. Flores Orellana, 36, the driver of the 2006 Ford Econoline van, was transported to the MCV hospital in Richmond, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash, the state police said.

The crash occurred at about 2:06 p.m. off I-295 southbound at the 46-mile marker in Henrico County. The troopers investigating the accident found that the van was traveling at a speed that was unsafe for road conditions when it ran off the road to the right and struck a tree, the state police said.

Three passengers in the van were transported to theMCV hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. None of the four people in the van were wearing seatbelts, state police said.
