Manassas Man Killed In Accidental Shooting On Saturday: Police
A Manassas man was fatally shot when an acquaintance "neglectfully" fired a handgun on Saturday evening, authorities said.
MANASSAS, VA — A Manassas man was fatally shot on Saturday evening when an acquaintance "neglectfully discharged" a handgun, the Prince William County Police Department said.
Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Reynaldo Jesus Villalobos Hernandez. He died at an area hospital after the shooting.
On Sunday, authorities arrested Daniel Villalobos Marquez in connection with the shooting. The 27-year-old is charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter. He is being held without bond at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 17.

If convicted, Villalobos Marquez could face up to ten years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.
The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. on Saturday at a home in the 8300 block of Scotland Loop in Manassas. Investigators said Villalobos Hernandez, Villalobos Marquez, and another man were passing around a loaded handgun.

While he was holding the gun, Villalobos Marquez "neglectfully discharged the handgun, firing a round and striking the victim in the chest," according to the police report.
Police officers provided first aid until fire and rescue personnel took the victim to an area hospital. There, he died from his injuries.
Authorities arrested Villalobos Marquez after an investigation into the shooting.
