MANASSAS, VA — A Manassas man stabbed a family member multiple times on Thursday morning at his home on Thurston Lane, the Prince William County Police Department said. He evaded police for several hours before he was arrested on Thursday evening.

The victim, a 37-year-old woman, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

Authorities identified the man as 43-year-old Miguel Angel Rodriguez-Torres. He is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, strangulation, preventing the summoning of police, and two counts of domestic assault and battery.

If convicted of all charges, Rodriguez-Torres could spend the rest of his life in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines. His court date is pending and his bond is listed as "unavailable," according to the police department's report.

The stabbing occurred around 6:45 a.m. Thursday on Thurston Lane in Manassas. Investigators said Rodriguez-Torres and the victim had an argument that escalated, and Rodriguez-Torres stabbed the victim multiple times before choking her.

A 14-year-old girl tried to intervene, but Rodriguez-Torres pushed her away, the police department said. The victim was able to flee the home and go to a neighbor's house, where police officers found her and provided first aid.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez-Torres fled the area and police officers were not able to find him immediately. The Fairfax County Police Department asked residents to avoid some areas of Centreville on Thursday as they searched for the stabbing suspect.

Rodriguez-Torres was eventually taken into custody Thursday evening, the Prince William County Police department said.
