30th Manassas Railway Festival Features Train Rides, Downtown Road Closures

Now in its 30th year, the Historic Manassas Railway Festival celebrates local railroad history and offers scenic train rides.

MANASSAS, VA — To celebrate railroad history in Manassas, the annual Historic Manassas Railway Festival will return for a 30th year on Saturday.

The festival is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and focuses on scenic train rides from the Manassas Virginia Railway Express station to the Town of Clifton and back. Train rides cost $8 per person and depart at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Manassas Railroad Depot or online. A $1 processing fee is added to online purchases.

Other features of the festival are model train displays, train memorabilia and specialty vendors. The event is free to attend, aside from the cost of a ticket to ride the train.

The festival will prompt road closures and street parking restrictions from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Manassas on Center Street, West Street, Battle Street and Main Street, according to City of Manassas Police. Parking restrictions will also be in place in the Harris Pavilion lot, Water Tower lot, Train Depot lot and Candy Factory lot.
