Manassas Gunfire Suspect Arrested Near Potomac Mills

As authorities waited for hours before raiding his home in Manassas, the suspect was found miles away.

Manassas City Police has arrested a suspect after shots were fired in a city neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Manuel Gonzalez is charged with possession of a fire arm by a felon, use of a fire arm in the commission of a felony, shooting at an occupied vehicle and discharge of a fire arm in public.

Gonzalez was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Thursday near Potomac Mills Mall as members of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were raiding a home at 9605 Aspen Place.

An anonymous source had told police that their were high-powered rifles and automatic rifles in the home, according to a city spokesperson.

At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called to the area after reports of shots fired. Two Hispanic men were seen firing at a passing car, according to police.

They were then seen running into the home later raided by the ATF. Police recovered bullets at the scene and noted that several vehicles have sustained damage from the gunfire.

As of 4:16 p.m., school children on the north side of the Georgetown South Community were being held in school until the situation was cleared for them to travel home.
