UPDATE: Missing Gainesville Woman Found Safe
The Prince William County Police Department said a missing Gainesville woman was found and is safe on Wednesday.

Updated at 4:30 p.m. on August 4: Janet Annette Melton was found and is safe.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — The Prince William County Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a woman from Gainesville who is missing. The 51-year-old woman, Janet Annette Melton, has been missing since Monday, authorities said.
The police department believes that Melton is missing under voluntary circumstances, according to a release. However, she may be in need of assistance, which qualifies her as missing and endangered.

Melton was last seen at her home on Brunson Circle in Gainesville, police said. She has not been seen since 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2.
Authorities noted that she may be driving a 2017 red Volkswagen Jetta, according to a report.

Melton is described as a white woman with brown hair and green eyes. She is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white dress, authorities said.
