MANASSAS, VA — A graduate of Osborne Park High School in Manassas is the recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship, one of the most prestigious national academic awards for U.S. undergraduate students. Emma Schlauder recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and, thanks to the Fulbright Scholarship, will now attend the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom to study for her Master of Science degree.

Schlauder attended Boston University where she majored in history and archeology and minored in classical civilization. While at the University of Sheffield, she plans to study human osteology and funerary archeology. The University of Sheffield’s program will provide Schlauder an opportunity to study gravesites from a scientific and cultural perspective, and will also allow her to gain a better understanding of their social standing and how it affected their burial sites.

The Fulbright Scholarship Award program began in 1946 and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
