Pedestrian Dies After Getting Hit By Pickup Truck: Police

The pickup truck was determined to have had the right-of-way with a green signal while the pedestrian signal indicated not to cross.

GAINESVILLE, VA — A pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning when the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling southbound on Linton Hall Road, approached the intersection with Whitney Road and struck the pedestrian, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The pedestrian, Korey Nicholas Aldrich, 34, of Haymarket was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene.

At 6:39 a.m. on Dec. 17, investigators from the police department's Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area to investigate the accident. Aldrich reportedly was crossing Linton Hall from a nearby service station to Gateway Center Plaza in a designated crosswalk. The striking vehicle was determined to have had the right-of-way with a green signal while the pedestrian signal indicated not to cross.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was identified as a 62-year-old man from Gainesville. No other injuries were reported.
