In-Person Restaurant Inspections Return To Prince William County

After an extended pause by the coronavirus pandemic, the Prince William Health District has resumed in-person restaurant inspections.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — In-person restaurant inspections have returned to Prince William County. The Prince William Health District said it began its transition to in-person inspections on Thursday, July 1.

  • Throughout the pandemic, restaurant inspections were limited to virtual visits in Prince William County. Though other districts continued to conduct some routine inspections, the Prince William Health District focused on training visits. Officials said they were following restrictions and guidelines set by the governor's office.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department also performs a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.
