Police Dog and Officer Assaulted Sunday, Suspect Arrested
The accused is being held without bail. Both the officer and the dog are OK.

Prince William County police have arrested a man accused of assaulting a police officer and his K-9 partner, Sunday Nov. 16.
Raymond Joseph Leshynski, 30 of Manassas, is charged with assault and battery, assault and battery on a police K-9, burglary, obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.
Leshynski allegedly banged on an off-duty Prince William County Police Officer’s door at around 11:20 p.m. When the officer opened the door, Leshynski attempted to push past him to enter the home, according to a PWCPD release. Police were called and Leshynski fled the area.

A responding officer found the accused and attempted to detain him, resulting in a struggle during which Leshynski allegedly struck the officer in the head multiple times. When the homeowner and his K-9 partner rushed over to help, Leshynski wrestled the dog to the ground and held him there.
Leshynski eventually complied with the officers and was taken into custody.

The officer who was struck was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Leshynski was also treated for minor injuries at the scene. The dog was not injured.
