Police: Man Gropes Woman, Tries to Steal Her Purse in Manassas

A woman was harassed today, Dec. 8, in the Manassas area when a man groped her and attempted to steal her purse, according to Manassas City Police.

Around 9:20 a.m. on Portner Avenue a 46-year-old woman was walking toward Sudley Road, when an unknown man approached her from a back alleyway of Manassas Shopping Center. The man grabbed the woman’s butt and then tried to steal her purse, the victim reported to police.

When she turned around to yell at him, the suspect fled on foot toward the south end of Manassas Shopping Center.

The victim described the suspect as a black male in his 20s, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, possibly with a mustache. The man was wearing a white hoodie, grey basketball shorts and an orange sock on his right foot.
