Police: Robbery Victim Chases Down Suspect, Recovers Items

Three suspects still at large following Monday incident, say Prince William County police.

Prince William County police are searching for three suspects involved in a strong-armed robbery Monday evening in the Manassas area. But the robbery victim pursued one of the robbers and recovered the stolen items, police said.

At 5:39 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the 8100 block of Community Drive, off Sudley Road (Route 234), to investigate a robbery, according to a police report. The victim, a 19-year-old Manassas man, reported to police that he was in front of his residence when he was approached by three unknown men.

The men initially asked the victim if he wanted to buy a cell phone. The victim refused and the men walked away, the police report said. A short time later, all three suspects returned and forcibly took the victim’s cell phone and tablet computer before fleeing on foot.

The victim chased the suspects, catching up to one of them, which led to a fight. The suspect dropped the victim’s property and continued to flee on foot, the police report said.

Minor injuries were reported, police said, and the victim was only able to describe two of the assailants. They are both described by police as black males between 20 and 22 years of age, 6 feet 1 inches tall with thin builds and dark complexions.

One assailant had short black hair and a goatee, and was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants and a black winter-style hat, police said. The other assailant had black dreadlocks, and was last seen wearing a black sweater and black pants.
