Police Searching for Suspect Who Abducted Woman at Knifepoint

Suspect has ties to Manassas area, according to Prince William County police.

Prince William County police are searching for the suspect who abducted a Manassas-area woman at knifepoint from her bedroom early Saturday.

Jorge Alberto Corea-Berrios, 34, of no fixed address, is wanted for strangulation, abduction, rape and burglary with intent to commit a felony, police announced Sunday.

He was last seen wearing a white sweater and light blue jeans. Corea-Berrios has local ties to Manassas and also to New York, the police said, and he’s possibly still armed with a knife.

The victim, Yezmin Elizabeth Ruiz-Monchez, 25, of Manassas, was able to get away early Saturday and contact Prince William police. She was treated at a local hospital.

Police responded to the incident at 12:30 a.m. Saturday to the 8100 block of Portwood Turn in Manassas.

A witness told police that the suspect assaulted an occupant of the apartment before grabbing a kitchen knife and forcing his way into Ruiz-Monchez’s bedroom. He reportedly took her from the apartment and cut the other occupant of the home before fleeing.

Both parties left the home on foot. Ruiz-Monchez was eventually able to get away from the suspect and contact police. Detectives further learned that during the abduction, the victim was sexually assaulted by the suspect, the police said.

The victim also reported that she and the suspect were involved in a domestic altercation on Thursday in which Corea-Berrios strangled her.
