Officer Injured After Cruiser Struck During Traffic Stop

Manassas City Police officer was entrapped when his police cruiser was struck on the side of the road.

A Manassas City Police officer is expected to recover from injuries after his cruiser was struck while parked on the side of the road for a traffic stop early Friday.

Prince William County Police and first responders arrived at the scene just before 1 a.m. Friday on the Prince William County Parkway near Nokesville Road.

The Manassas officer was conducting a traffic stop for an infraction inside city limits. The blue lights were reportedly active on his car. The driver of a 2000 Ford E150 approached the scene and struck the police cruiser, pushing the cruiser into the stopped vehicle in front of it, entrapping the officer.

According to PWCPD, first responders removed the officer and he was flown to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The driver of the Ford truck, Peggy Durage Drauglis, 79, of St. Michaels, Md., is charged with reckless driving - failure to maintain control of vehicle.
