'Secure the Building' Status Lifted at West Gate Elementary School
Police activity in the area had put school on alert Thursday morning.
At 10:50 a.m., West Gate Elementary School was placed in secure-the-building status because of police activity in the area.
The status was lifted 30 minutes later.
The action was precautionary and staff and students remained safe, according to a Prince William County Schools statement.
