Prince William County Fair To Host Mobile Vaccine Clinic
The health district's mobile vaccine clinic will administer coronavirus vaccines at the Prince William County Fair starting on Saturday.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Coronavirus vaccines will be available at the Prince William County Fair, which is back after a year-long break. The Prince William Health District's mobile vaccine clinic will be at the fair on Saturday, Aug. 14, Wednesday, Aug. 18, and Thursday, Aug. 19.
Across Prince William County, coronavirus cases are on the rise and vaccination rates have leveled off. Since July 13, the 7-day average of coronavirus cases has multiplied by five times in Prince William County. On July 13, there were 13 new coronavirus cases. On Aug. 13, there were 88 new cases.
On Saturday, Aug. 14, the mobile clinic will operate from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Wednesday, Aug. 18 and Thursday, Aug. 19, the clinic will distribute vaccines from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The clinic will be at the Prince William County Fairgrounds, located at 10624 Dumfries Rd in Manassas.

In August, the county's level of community transmission was also elevated based on CDC metric. Prince William County now has a "high" level of community transmission, which is the most dire rating, according to the CDC.

Public health officials believe the increase in cases is being driven by the highly contagious delta variant. According to the Virginia Department of Health, 98.34 percent of the state's coronavirus cases are among individuals who are not fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, of the 4.7 million fully vaccinated people in the state, there have only been 4,000 recorded breakthrough cases. The Virginia Department of Health reports that 0.086 percent of fully vaccinated people have subsequently developed COVID-19.
In Prince William County, children aged 12 and older have been vaccinated at a higher rate then certain groups of adults. 61.3 percent of children aged 12 to 15 have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, compared to 60.5 percent of adults aged 25 to 34.
