PWC Supervisors Approve New Mosque In Nokesville: Report

A permit finally has been approved to build a new mosque in Nokesville following a Prince William Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — A permit finally has been approved to build a new mosque in Nokesville following a Prince William Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday night, according to INSIDENOVA.com. The board voted unanimously to approve a special use permit for the 22,400 square-foot mosque, which had been the source of public debate for around three years.

The mosque will be on a 14-acre site at the intersection of Vint Hill Road and Schaeffer Road. Several hundred people attended the meeting. Some made a case for it and some made a case against it. One of the larger sticking points was whether to approve a hook-up to county sewer service. Aside from a handful of state objections, there was no real backlash against the religious nature of the building. Ultimately, after nine hours, the decision was reached.
