Manassas Mall Up For Sale: Report

Manassas Mall is the D.C. area's 12-largest mall by square footage.

MANASSAS, VA — The owner of the Manassas Mall is seeking a buyer for the 930,662-square-foot shopping center that was developed in the mid-1970s, the Washington Business Journal reported Monday. The mall, located at 8300 Studley Road and owned by an affiliate of Pyramid Management Group, is assessed at about $31.3 million, according to county land records. The mall underwent a renovation in 2016.

Manassas Mall, home to 80 retail stores, is the Washington, D.C. area's 12-largest mall by square footage. Sears, one of the anchor stores at the mall, announced in November it would be closing its store at the mall in February 2020 as part of a plan to close 96 stores nationwide.

Several of the anchor stores at Manassas Mall, including Sears, Walmart and Macy's, operate from space that is not part of the sale, the Washington Businesss Journal noted. The Manassas Mall sale includes space leased to others, including At Home, Bath & Body Works and H&M, according to the report.

Commercial real estate brokerage JLL is seeking buyers on behalf of Manassas Mall's owner. The mall is nearly 93-percent occupied, the Washington Business Journal said, with overall annual sales in excess of $200 million.
