Recyclefest Held in Manassas in Honor of America Recycles Day
Drop Off Old Cell Phones, Shredded Papers, and More at Recyclefest in Manassas Nov. 15.

The City of Manassas wants you to reduce, reuse, but mostly recycle next Saturday. In celebration of America Recycles Day, Manassas Public Works is holding Recyclefest, Sat. Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Manassas Transfer Station on Quarry Road.
America Recycles Day is a national event that encourages people across the United States to recycle items they would typically throw away, like old clothing, cell phones and batteries.
During Recyclefest residents of Manassas can drop of all of those things, as well as household hazardous waste and shredded paper documents, for free. Proof of residency is required to enter and no commercial waste will be accepted.

Last year, according to the Manassas Public Works, the City of Manassas produced 77 tons of electronic waste at monthly drop-off days and more than 2,500 tons of recycling from curbside collection.
“Each year, the United States generates more than 250 million tons of municipal solid waste— that’s more than four pounds per person, per day,” said Monica Boehringer, refuse and recycling coordinator of Manassas Public Works and Utilities, in a press release.
