Injured Person Along Occoquan River Rescued By Prince William, Manassas Units

Prince William County Fire and Rescue made a high-angle rescue from a riverbank Thursday evening.

MANASSAS, VA — Prince William County Fire and Rescue came to the aid of an injured person along the riverbank of the Occoquan River Thursday evening.

The rescue happened on the Occoquan River near Lake Jackson Dam. Around 5:53 p.m., units responded to the shoreline for a man who fell while trying to cross the river. Units determined additional units would be needed to do the high-angle rescue from the riverbank. Units provided aid to the injured person while additional units from Prince William County and City of Manassas were called to the scene.

With the additional units, the patient was secured to a stretcher and rescued using a haul system. The man was taken by medivac helicopter to a trauma center for medical care.
