MANASSAS, VA — One person is in police custody after a "barricade incident" in Manassas, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Lake Jackson Drive was shut down in Manassas around 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning as authorities responded according to police. The road was shut down between Prince William Parkway and Dumfries Road.

Officials said the incident was contained to a home in 8100 block of Hillcrest Drive in Manassas. Authorities notified the public of the road closure around 11 a.m.

"There is no active threat to the community," the Prince William County Police Department said on Facebook. However, officials originally told residents to avoid the area.

On Facebook, dozens of Prince William County residents commented about the incident. Some said they were unable to reach their homes for hours. Others reported hearing police on a megaphone tell the home's occupants to come out with their hands up.

At different points throughout the day, some commenters said they heard what sounded like fireworks.

The Prince William County Police Department has not identified the individual who was taken into custody. Officials said more information would be made available later.
