Sinistral Brewing Company Finally Approved in Manassas

Set to open next summer, the establishment had wanted to open as Southpaw Brew Co. but was rebuffed by trademark regulations.

MANASSAS, VA — A long-planned craft brewing restaurant that had hoped to open under a different name until being rebuffed by trademark regulations is back on track for a summer 20017 opening in downtown.

Sinistral Brewing Company will open a 3,500-foot space at 9423 Main Street, adjacent to the Philly Tavern, according to the city.

It had hoped to be called Southpaw Brew Co., but those plans were nixed because the name already was registered.

"For now," the owners wrote last summer, "we are the Brewery formerly known as Southpaw."

As it is, Sinistral and head brewer Blane Perry, will present a seven-barrel brewhouse, tap room and beer garden.
