Snow Storm to Impact Manassas Area

Get the salt and shovels ready. A winter snowstorm headed for the Northeast could mean rain, ice and snow in the area this weekend.

Winter Storm Iola was named Wednesday afternoon after storm warnings were issued in the Southwest, according to the Weather Channel.

Most of the weekend snow — if any — is predicted to fall between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Here’s what you can expect in the Manassas area:

• Friday Night: A chance of rain and sleet before 1am, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 29. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Saturday: Snow likely before 9am, then rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 41. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
• Saturday Night: A chance of rain and snow before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
