Thief Steals Woman's Purse in Target Parking Lot

Prince William County police: Victim grappled with suspect before he got away

Prince William County police are looking for the thief who stole a purse from a woman Saturday in the parking lot of a Target store in the Manassas area.

Police responded at 6:50 p.m. Saturday to the Super Target at 9900 Sowder Village Square to investigate the robbery, according to a police report. The victim, a 58-year-old woman from Manassas, told police that she was loading groceries into her vehicle when she was approached by an unknown man.

The man reached for the victim’s purse, which was sitting in her shopping cart. The victim also reached for the purse, which led to a struggle, according to police.

The suspect was eventually able to pull the purse away from the victim and flee through the parking lot on foot before getting into a waiting vehicle, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 19 and 22 years of age, 6-foot-1-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with short hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket and blue jeans.

The vehicle is described as a blue four-door car with Virginia license plates.
