Triangle Man Charged With Sexual Battery at School

Prince William County police: Incidents occurred at PACE-East.

A Triangle man who worked as a teacher’s assistant at an Independent Hill school has been charged with sexual battery, according to the Prince William County police.

Wesley Earl Phillips III, 20, of 3713 Fidelis Court, turned himself in to police Thursday following an investigation by the force’s Special Victims Unit. Detectives from the unit responded on Feb. 13 to a sexual battery reported to have occurred at the PACE-East School at 14742 Joplin Road in Independent Hill, the police said.

The detectives found that between September 2013 and last September, two female victims were inappropriately touched by Phillips on school property while he was employed as a teacher’s assistant. At the time of the offenses, the victims were 15 and 14 years old, police said.

One victim told school officials of the assault and police were notified. Following the investigation, the police obtained warrats against Phillips. He’s charged with two counts of sexual battery, and he’s being held on a $4,000 secured bond. His court date is pending.
