Update: Driver Charged in Accident That Injured Police Officer
Motorist was trying to make U-turn on Hastings Drive, say Manassas police.

A 29-year-old Dumfries woman has been charged with reckless driving in a Monday morning accident that injured a Manassas police officer on a motorcycle.
Cindy Marie Rathbun of 16948 Point Pleasant Lane was released on a summons following the collision, according to the Manassas police. The officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after Rathbun’s vehicle struck the officer’s motorcycle, police said.

The accident occurred at about 10:25 a.m. Monday, when Rathbun attempted to make a U-turn from the right lane of westbound Hastings Drive and hit the motorcycle in the left lane, according to the police.
She is scheduled to appear on Aug. 4 in Prince William General District Court, police said.

The police reopened Hastings Drive between Dumfries Road (Route 234) and Hendley Road shortly before noon after closing it to investigate the accident.
