VA Travel Weather Forecast For Christmas Weekend
Forecasters are looking ahead to the weather for later this week, when Christmas holiday travel in Maryland picks up. Here's what to expect.
VIRGINIA — It's unlikely that Virginia will have a White Christmas this year, according to the latest forecast from AccuWeather.
Throughout the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia region, conditions will be dry and mild in the days leading up to Christmas this year. Forecasters expect that there will be minimal weather-related travel delays at the area's airports.
Other travel hubs along the east coast, including Atlanta, New York City, and Boston, will also be unaffected by weather in the days leading up to Christmas, forecasters said.

However, holiday travelers visiting the west coast and Midwest may have to brave wet weather before Christmas.
"A round of wet weather will cross the southern Plains from Thursday into Friday, bringing the potential for heavy rain to cities such as Oklahoma City, Dallas and Houston by the end of the week" AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Heather Zehr said in a news release. "After a short break, another round of potentially travel-disrupting rains can move through over the weekend. This rain may linger into Christmas Day in some places."
