VIRGINIA’S DAR MEDAL OF HONOR AWARD PRESENTED TO ARTIST P. BUCKLEY MOSS

Virginia DAR presented the DAR Medal of Honor Award to Virginia artist, P. Buckley Moss for her work with the learning impaired at their annual State Conference on March 15-18 at the Richmond Marriott. The winner of the DAR Medal of Honor Award must have made lasting contributions to our American Heritage. Donations of P. Buckley Moss’ work have raised millions for special education causes. The P. Buckley Moss Foundation, formed to help children with learning disabilities, encourages the use of the arts in programs for children who learn differently. Her popular art work, depicting quiet rural people and scenes, as well as her caring for others, have earned her the title of “The People’s Artist.” P. Buckley Moss was nominated for the DAR Medal of Honor Award by Colonel Thomas Hughart Chapter.

Other awards presented at the conference included: DAR Service to Veterans, DAR Americanism, Outstanding Teacher of American History, and the DAR Good Citizen Award to a high school student.
