VRE Santa Train: Online Tickets Sold Out in 20 Minutes
Many complain website glitches kept them off the train.

No more tickets to the north pole for Manassas area families can be bought online this year. VRE Santa Train tickets went on sale online today, Nov. 24 at 9 a.m. By 9:18 a.m., they were sold out.
Half of the available tickets were held for sale at VRE stations in Manassas, Fredericksburg, Burke and Woodbridge and could still be available there.
Many people took to Facebook today to complain about website glitches. Some say they had the webpage open since 8 a.m., but still couldn’t buy a ticket. Others complained the webpage would boot them off repeatedly while using a Google Chrome browser, but let them through on Internet Explorer. Two suggested VRE open additional days or trains for the clearly popular event.

Santa Train is run in support of Operation Lifesaver, which advocates for train safety. Children in the area can take a ride with Santa and Mrs. Claus, listen to holiday singers and get candy canes and coloring books. This year’s event is also an opportunity to help local families in need by donating a toy to Toys for Tots.
