YORKSHIRE, VA — A fire broke out at a home in Yorkshire on Tuesday afternoon, according to a report from the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the home, authorities said. The fire displaced seven residents.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 8000 block of Leland Road around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A fire was spreading from the back of the house, authorities said.

At one point, fire crews had to change their tactics due to the size of the blaze. Firefighters eventually put out the fire, officials said.

The Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating what caused the blaze. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.

Authorities said one person was home when the fire started. They learned about the fire when a smoke detector started to sound.

"This incident exemplifies the importance of having smoke detectors in all properties," authorities said in a news release. "The Fire Marshal’s Office reminds everyone to check their smoke detectors monthly."
