One day at a time...

Who says change has to be "mission impossible". Struggling with change? Find out how to change your perspective....

Change is difficult- we all know this.  However, I recently discovered that one reason that “change” is so difficult is because of the process that happens BEFORE the change.  See we say we hate change but on a daily basis we make hundreds of changes.

For example, you look in the mirror- you don’t like your outfit- you go change it.  Or, you’re driving down the road, and your lane becomes congested and you don’t want to wait- guess what- you CHANGE lanes.

Or how many times do we “change” seats, channels, stations- so that we can feel more comfortable?  Even in these small areas though, the thing that causes us to change is an awareness that we have to…

In bigger areas of life, such as relationships, health, and jobs- we may be afraid to face that level of awareness. Take weight loss for example.  To start making healthy “changes” you have to first take that “look” in the mirror and say to yourself “I AM NOT HEALTHY” or “I am obese”.

Saying those words to your self can be scary! Especially if you have had people in your life that abused these expressions- you certainly can’t repeat those words- they may feel too painful! But, the thing about it is this- no matter how much you avoid facing reality- you can’t stop the effects of reality!

So if you are making bad health choices for example- self denial will only last but so long, because eventually the consequences of those choices will force change- even if it’s in death!

I encourage any reading this to join me on my journey of self reflection and change! Face your fears.  Look in the mirrors of your life and see yourself for who you really are.

My biggest challenge has been my weight and I finally took that look (thanks to my doctor)- and realized I NEEDED TO CHANGE AND CHANGE QUICK! Thankfully, I’m down 12 pounds -and although I have a lot more to go- I’m happy that I’m making progress.

Change can be difficult- but it can be good! Whatever you are running from- face it and make that change!
