The Smart Markets Farmers' Market Will Return in the Spring

Our farmers' market will not get under way until next spring, but we look forward to seeing you then.

Smart Markets, Inc. is sorry to announce that we will not be back in Manassas Park this winter. In spite of tremendous support from the City, we learned last Friday that trying to open a market in the dark is not the best idea. We have to think about our vendors and the expense of coming to market when we make these decisions, and we realized that it would take many markets to hit our stride, and by then we would be closing for the winter anyway. So please hang on, read your newsletter, visit us at one of our year-round markets and wait patiently for us to return in the spring with an even bigger and better market.

We do anticipate being active in the community over the winter with outreach to the schools and through the Community Center. We will be working with City staff to apply for grant money to do special things in the city next summer, and we look forward to working with the Extension Service and Social Services in your area to expand our reach into all areas of Manassas Park.

We will see you in the spring and maybe sooner at a canning class or a nutrition workshop. When we get going again, we will resume posting on the Manassas Park Patch with weekly updates and links to valuable information.
