Why Choose a Photographer Over a Department Store Studio.

First I would like to let you know about my most recent photo shoot.  Last weekend, I had the opportunity of photographing the intelligent and beautiful editor of the Manassas Park Patch.  Yes, that’s right Jamie Rogers.  The session went great and attached are a few of the photos. 

So, every now and then I am asked, why should someone choose a photographer for portraits instead of going to one of the department stores or one of the marts?  I have to educate them, most of those places do not hire photographers.  They hire people and train them to push a button and tell people to smile.  Their set ups are designed to be idiot proof for a standard style of portrait.  Once you move those people to a park, they would be lost.  A photographer understands the use of light, time, and equipment. 

A real photographer can get a correct exposure under any circumstance.  In my case, I like shooting on location.  Your portrait session will never be similar to someone else when you can choose the location.  In addition, I have a collection of lights that can turn any living room into a Hollywood studio.
